Description of All Stops

Eira do Serrado

Located at approximately 1,094 metres above sea level, Eira do Serrado is one of Madeira’s most impressive mountain viewpoints. From here, you can admire dramatic panoramic views over the deep valley of Curral das Freiras, surrounded by rugged peaks and the lush green slopes of the island’s central mountains.

This breathtaking viewpoint is the perfect place to appreciate Madeira’s volcanic origins, its remarkable natural formations, and the peaceful beauty of the island’s mountainous interior.

Curral das Freiras

Hidden in a deep valley in the heart of Madeira, Curral das Freiras, also known as Nuns Valley, is one of the island’s most enchanting villages. Its unique location, surrounded by high mountains, gives it a peaceful and almost secret atmosphere.

Historically, the village became known as a refuge for nuns who sought protection from pirate attacks in the 16th century. Today, Curral das Freiras is celebrated for its authentic charm, traditional mountain lifestyle, local cuisine, and famous chestnut specialities.

A visit here offers a wonderful glimpse into Madeira’s history, traditions, and rural identity.

Pico dos Barcelos

The tour concludes at Pico dos Barcelos, a beautiful viewpoint overlooking Funchal, its bay, the Atlantic Ocean, and the surrounding mountains.

This is one of the best places to admire the capital of Madeira from above and capture memorable photos of the city, the coastline, and the natural landscape that surrounds it.
